To the Senior Board Judges:

As an animal lover, it has always been an important factor in my life to put a stop to animal cruelty. There is a special place in my heart for animals that are victims of abuse and torture.  Through the graduation project, I found a way to personally make a difference and take the necessary steps toward ending animal-testing. The research paper was a solid foundation for me to build on for my graduation project because it gave me the insight I needed concerning the treatment of animals. By encouraging others to use animal-friendly cosmetics through my graduation project, I feel accomplished in the fact that I had an impact on creating a world where the improper testing of animals no longer exists.

Reflecting back on my final project, I have realized that I have the ability to make a difference in the world. I have learned that I am capable of great things and can touch lives through working for a cause. By completing the graduation project, I discovered that a little effort can result in a great impact. This project taught me that hard work and dedication can change the way the world views the treatment of animals and by doing so, I have the power to work towards a society free of animal cruelty.

There were a few difficulties that I faced during the course of my graduation project. One challenge I faced was finding recipes and figuring out how to take them and improve them to fit the needs of my project. I also had to find a way to stretch my money to cover the costs it would take to purchase the ingredients and materials I needed to host my make-up party. It was difficult to find cost-friendly ingredients as well as ensure that I have purchased enough. In fact, after my first shopping trip I discovered that I had not purchased enough of a certain ingredient and had to return to the store to buy more. Throughout the process of completing my project, I also had some trouble with the technological aspects. I had to create invitations as well as informational pamphlets for my make-up party. In order to make the pamphlets professional, I took a risk in using Microsoft publisher which I was not very familiar with. Once I had gained the knowledge needed to complete the pamphlet, I realized I did not have the software to print them. In the end, however, my project was an overall success. Although there were some bumps in the road, I was successful in hosting my make-up party and teaching others how to create their own cosmetics. The purpose of my graduation project was to encourage people to use animal-friendly products and I believe that I accomplished that goal. The graduation project will benefit me later in life because I have discovered new things about myself and the ability I have to overcome difficulties and make a difference in the world.

Sincerely,

Caitlyn Bergmann
