Indicate a person who has had a significant influence on you, and describe the influence.

Most girls grow up depending on their mother to braid their hair and teach them about boys but for me however, I grew up in a different way. My mother died in a car accident when I was two months old and there has never been anyone who could comfort me in the way only a mother can. I have never had a mother to tell me about her old boyfriends or show me how to put on make-up and it seems to get harder and harder as time ticks on.  However there is one person, if I had to choose, who has filled that void in my life as best she could. That is my great aunt.

For as long as I can remember, Pam has always spoiled me rotten and loved me in a way that no one else has. She never fails to put everyone before herself and does anything she can to help someone in need. People know they can rely on Pam for support in any hardship or just a simple light that she carries with her everywhere she goes. She has a way of bringing joy and happiness into dark times that seem to lurk even in her own life. Pam has lived a life of loss and pain but a person on the outside would never see that because of the way she presents herself. What I admire most about Pam is her ability to put aside her own suffering to tend to someone else who is hurting and in need of love and comfort. Pam is the kind of person who can walk into a room with a smile on her face and bring a smile to every person that she comes in contact with. She cares for every person in her life and asks for nothing in return. She has shown me the true meaning of inner beauty and the impact a kind heart can have on those around them. It is not the material things Pam has given me but the unconditional love that has brought me to the woman I am today.

While no one could ever take the place of a mother figure in my life, Pam has been the one woman that I have always looked up to and admired. From her selfless personality to her unfailing love and compassion, she has opened my eyes to the woman I aspire to be. Pam has taught me that it does not matter how beautiful a person is on the outside, it is the beauty a person holds within themselves that truly matters. Throughout my entire life, Pam has given me the advice on life and love that a young woman is desperate to learn but has never tried to overstep her boundaries and take on the role of a mother. When I was younger, she was my favorite person in the entire world but the older I become the more she transforms into one of the best friends I’ll ever have.
