Learning Stretch: My learning stretch for the graduation project is that I had to learn how to take recipes and re-create them to make them my own. I not only had to create recipes for animal-friendly beauty products, I also had to take these recipes and learn how to effectively make them so that I could teach others. Before this project, I had never made cosmetics so learning how to make them and taking the knowledge I gained to teach others was a learning stretch for me. I learned from completing the graduation project how to form successful recipes as well as implement them and teach them to others.

Obstacles:

  • It was a challenge to take recipes and re-create them to make them my own as well as teaching myself how to use the recipes because I had never made cosmetics before this project.
  • Before this project, I had never used Microsoft Publisher to create a pamphlet. This made it very difficult to create my informational pamphlet to distribute to my party guests. I also did not have to software to print the pamphlets so I had to print them at my dad's office.
  • After I had purchased all of the ingredients needed to create my cosmetics, I realized that I did not purchase enough of a specific ingredient. I decided to test some other ingredients in the hopes that they would be an effective alternative. After unsuccessfully testing several possible alternatives, I had to go back to the store to purchase more of the ingredient.

 Successes:

  • All of the changes I made to my recipes to improve them worked very well. I decided to add certain ingredients that were more cost-friendly and decrease the amount of other ingredients that were more expensive.
  • The make-up party I hosted was very successful and there were no obstacles during the course of the party. All of my guests enjoyed watching me make the different cosmetics and being able to keep samples and a pamphlet that included all of the recipes.
